Siam- The Kingdom of Thailand, April 18th – 27th 2017 (10 days, 9 nights)
Day 1 | Bangkok
We begin our journey in this amazing city where you’ll be met by our local tour representative and sent via private taxi to the hotel in the bustling city centre, after you’ve had time to settle into your hotel participants will gather for our pre-trip orientation meeting, then a welcome dinner at a sky view restaurant with magnificent views over Bangkok.
Day 2 | Bangkok
Wake up in Bangkok! In the morning we’ll take a traditional teak boat through some of the klongs (canals) which offer a glimpse of old Bangkok, “the Venice of the East”, when the best way to navigate the city was by boat, we’ll have lunch overlooking one of the canals at the ‘Artist House’, more than 200 years old the house dates back to when the capital was on this quiet side of the river. Tonight is a free evening to explore or perhaps have a relaxing massage.
Each evening throughout the tour, for those who wish to discuss the processing and finessing of their images, Jaime will be available to review and advise. This is great time to pick up tips on both the shooting and processing of your images.
Day 3 | Bangkok
Colourful, captivating and engaging are three words that best sum up our morning visit to photograph Bangkok's Chinatown and Pak Khlong Flower market. In the afternoon we’ll visit the Grand Palace located in the old city of Bangkok on the banks of the Chao Phraya river it’s one of the must see sites of Thailand, the complex is one of the most famous landmarks of the country and offers spectacular buildings and sacred sites. Tonight is a free evening with an optional photo review session for those interested.
Day 4 | Bangkok - Samut Songkhram - Kanchanaburi
We wake up early this morning for our one hour trip by private van to the floating markets of Ampawa and Tha Kha, markets that don’t happen merely for tourism, set in a peaceful rural atmosphere, with a proud tradition of local foods, enchanting canal-side villages and many great photo opportunities. In the afternoon we’ll travel on to Kanchanaburi, where we’ll walk across and photograph the famous Bridge over the river Kwai, we stay here tonight.
Day 5 | Kanchanaburi -Ayutthaya
Today we’ll continue by private van to the ancient city of Ayutthaya, founded in 1351 it was the capital of Thailand until 1767, when it was sacked by the Burmese, there we'll bicycle around and photograph the numerous ancient temples . In the evening we’ll take tuk tuks to the majestic temple of Wat Chaiwatthanaram to photograph it at dusk under floodlight, dinner and a stroll through the bustling night market.
Day 6 | Ayutthaya - Chang Mai
Mid morning we head back to Bangkok for our flight to Chang Mai the largest and most culturally significant city in Northern Thailand, the former seat of the Lanna kingdom is blissfully calm and laid-back. Flight time is usually a little over an hour and a short drive to the city, to settle into your hotel situated in the old part of town. The afternoon is free to do what you like. In the evening we'll see a Muay thai boxing match up close and personal!
Day 7 | Chang Mai
After breakfast at our hotel we’ll head out to explore some of the many beautiful and ornate temples and golden budha's. In the afternoon if you wish, you could join Jaime on a walking tour to capture some of the street life and local ambience. The evening we visit a bustling night market where you can practice your night photography from the plethora of great photo opportunities and sample some of the local delicacies .
Day 8 | Chang Mai
We’ll get up early for trip to see the Elephant Jungle Sanctuary 60 kms from Chang Mai an enjoyable opportunity to spend quality time with elephants in their natural home, we will also be privileged to meet and interact with members of the Karen tribe, and witness stunning views of the surrounding jungle and mountains – All the while interacting personally with friendly, happy elephants in a safe and ethically sustainable environment. The evening back in Chang Mai is free with an optional photo review session for those interested
Day 9 | Chang Mai - Bangkok
Today we visit a traditional umbrella factory, witness first hand how these exotic, quintessential Asian shade-providers are made, step by step. There are many artists who hand-paint the near finished products. The last afternoon is free – you could use this time to explore some more, enjoy the hustle and bustle, do some last minute shopping or bargain for local wares.
In the evening we’ll gather for a farewell dinner.
Day 10 | Bangkok
Tour ends, group participants depart after breakfast. (return flight to Bangkok included in price)
