Jaime Murcia is an award-winning street and travel photographer, author and guide who's twin passions are photography and experiencing different cultures. Jaime loves telling stories through images and strives to transcend ordinary travel pictures, and convey a strong sense of place, and the spirit of the people in his photographs.
As a freelance photographer with over 25 years of experience he has been commissioned and published by a wide range of clients including Qantas Australian Way magazine, National Geographic Traveler, Time, Royal Auto, Good Weekend, newspapers, books and websites. He is a member and past President of MAPgroup (Many Australian Photographers), a non-profit association of around forty photographers who share a passion and commitment to high quality, independent documentary image making.
He recently completed his first solo book ‘Little Big Town’, A photographic journey through Melbourne’s little streets and laneways.
A number of his photos are held in the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra and the National Library of Australia. His photography is represented by the Spanish agency AGE fotostock.
When he’s not on the road he lives in Melbourne, Australia.
